American Family Spark Building I Madison, Wisconsin

The Spark is a 9-story multi-tenant building on East Washington that will house Starting Block Madison, American Family Insurance’s DreamBank and The “Institute” (ie. Think Tank), and American Family staff offices. We were the architect for Community Spaces – which are spaces open to the public, or used by any Spark building tenants.

Each community space has a unique design & feel. The relocated DreamBank on the first floor is a hub for business and personal growth and entrepreneurship, hosting many on-site public events. The space includes private event space and complimentary hospitality spaces for the public and tenants.

Work Café on Third: This is a fun, interactive space open to all Spark tenants. It features a kitchenette, collaborative work space, dining space, and an outdoor patio. Fun, interactive spaces with a fireplace inside and out, bag toss inside, and the possibility to project on the large wall outside.

“The Institute” on Eighth: A place that fosters and drives positive social impact toward more sustainable cities and communities, The Institute is intended to be an outward facing, non-branded Think Tank. Members of the public are invited in to help solve local issues. This is a very flexible “maker’s space” where a high school student and a business leader will feel comfortable working together to bring change.

Pre-Function on Ninth: This is an indoor/outdoor space to be used for executive and pre-function/evening events, featuring a kitchenette, bar and fireplace with the feel of a welcoming living room.
